February 2026

This month, we welcomed 3 new pledges into the fold. We await with bated breath their choice of mentors, which will be revealed soon…

During this month’s Work Weekend, we fixed some shelves and set up a new doorbell for the house, in addition to other cleaning activities. The doorbell is currently set to the classic, two note doorbell, though another popular option was the Westminster Chimes melody, ultimately determined to be too long.

We have begun designing a new Psi U shirt! It will, of course, feature an owl, though we’ll hold off on revealing the exact design until it’s complete.

Weekly Star Trek: Voyager watch parties have resumed, and a Karaoke Night is in the works. Some Brothers, Pledges, and Friends have gathered for a session of a version of the Warrior Cats ttrpg, with hopes to continue convening more regularly.

Six brothers went can sorting for the Mohawk Hudson Human Society. Due to the backlog of bottles to sort, the sorting process was streamlined into three types of bottles rather than 34 stations based on brand. Over the course of 2 hours, they sorted and tied off 33 bags of cans and plastic for MHHS to return in order to fund more salaries, improvements, and expansions to house and help more animals.

Tom Fox, the Executive Director of the Psi Upsilon International Office, graced us with a Zoom call on the history of Psi Upsilon. Brothers and Pledges gathered together to listen to his presentation, and now we are all more informed on the history we now contribute to. In addition, we are now on the lookout for the original grave of the founder Merwin Henry Stuart. Perhaps next month I will return with tales of walks through cemeteries in search of our famous founder, now immortalized in a plush owl.

January 2026

Winter Break

Our glorious Archon attended Archon’s Academy, returning (by the grace of some kind strangers) the night before the first day of school with new ideas and tools to implement them.

Mel Daley (RPI’s Assistant Greek Dean), who has been back for all of a month, half of which was winter break, has been thrown straight into formal recruitment season, and has shared their feelings on the topic in the form of a gif:

Start of the Semester

I feel as though all of us undergrads share this sentiment as we dive headfirst into the Spring semester and pray that it is water rather than rocks that we land on. Or even better, cotton candy! Perhaps we can put that machine to some use…

We have held our first Work Weekend, and are in the process of planning the next; a mini Work Week held monthly to hit the tasks that need to be done more than yearly, but don’t need to be done weekly. This first Work Weekend aimed to freshen the house up after a few long weeks of winter break.

Rush is now drawing to a close. We have had great attendance at our rush events, averaging 6-7 people per event, with 23 unique people, 7 of which have attended more than one event.
